The Sartorialist

I can't believe we ran into the Sartorialist last Saturday when he was in Sydney's Surry Hills Markets. Wasn't expecting to find him there, and obviously he knows our hot spots.
It sort of reminded me how all people are the same- they start from scratch, they work their asses off (unlike most celebrities who just inherit fame) and they look normal... We all see their faces on some sort of display monitor- whether it's a TV, computer or a magazine- and we associate their faces with something mass-produced and commercialized. But running into someone of their fame in the street: you're looking at a different person.

All you can hear is the shutter click, and in that brief moment of darkness, it's just you and your subject, alone, together. This theme is all about photos that evoke that feeling of closeness. Who are you intimate with can really expose intimate traits and behaviors of not only them, but you as well. I want to capture moments when the subject seems to be only subconsciously aware of my presence, off in their own world, but taking me in with them.
